ReplyDeleteI brought a lovely little cocker spaniel puppy for myself and my 2 daughters. We found the litter on a website called 'dogsandpuppies.co.uk.' I rang to enquire about the puppies and ask to visit the puppies the following day. I was asked to ring the contact person just before we left to visit the puppies, I would be given the address of the establishment. I have not owned a dog for a while. I presumed that the lack of detail around the address was to prevent people stealing the puppies. I was also unaware of puppy farms.
The address was Rose Cottage, Willow Park, Beck Row, Mildenhall, IP28 8UJ After an hour and half journey we arrived in the dark at the address which was a smart looking travellers site. The property in question had a static caravan with 2 converted stables all within an enclosed space. The puppies were in a clean environment and appeared well cared for. The parents were not present and I did not feel able to pursue the matter. We chose the last female from the litter available and paid £350. I was given a pedigree printed from the computer, immunisation record and some dog food which was reportedly Hills Science puppy food.
Later that week, I decided to research where our little puppy had come from. I was horrified to discover that as soon as I typed Willow Park, Mildenhall, into google it became apparent that our new companion had been purchased from an address with a long history of being a puppy farm. The more I read about the puppy farm, the more obvious it was that our new puppy was part of this scam.
I checked out the vets details and was concerned that the address was very local to us and not near Mildenhall. I have now discovered that the vets does not actually exist. The pedigree is also fake and the food provided was not Hills Science. As a result Gretel our little puppy visited the vets the following day. She appears to be very well, she is possibly older than we first thought and has recommenced her immunisation programme. I am not really bothered by the fake pedigree.
Only time will tell will tell as to whether Gretel is well, the main problem to date has been toilet training which we assume is due to the restricted movement and poor hygiene in her previous home. I am so sorry I was not aware of these cruel puppy farms. The address above features on a number of websites highlighting the plight of puppy farms and the sad short life of a dog called 'Buster.' Indeed the puppy farm in question has changed its name a number of times. The names we are aware of include, clectaylor, lisataylor, cremdella cockerpoos, cremdella kennels, ella kennels, willow park puppies, willow park kennels.
We as a family want this cruel practice to stop. We were appalled to learn of the plight for the mothers and the potential long term health problems for all animals involved.
We wanted to alert you as a concerned organisation to try and cease this cruel practice and help others to have the awareness of puppy farms that I did not have.
Additionally the person resonponsible for this puppy farm has a criminal record as reported in a local newspaper- Charles Taylor, Willow Park, Beck Row (27): Assaulted Lisa Taylor by beating; destroyed a mobile phone belonging to Lisa Taylor: 18 weeks imprisonment suspended for 18 months; participate in domestic abuse programme for 27 days, costs £85.

I had exactly the same situation as you with our 'pedigree miniature dachshund'. Which a year later, is obvious she is not. Did you take your investigations any further? As I am considering taking legal actions against them. Thanks, Charlotte Paul
DeleteI think that the O'Conners at Tollshunt Major Malden borders if not a puppy farm certain dogs lived in house which stunk and then there was a wing that she brought pups out off then mother we viewed in kitchen now one if the pups I'm not convinced was from this mother it was much bigger and colours didn't match - I know this is possible but it seemed odd as she new I wanted that colour. The coats didn't match either I was quickly told he was going to have a straighter coat and I think he was actually an F2 not F1 when asked if I could see where they were kept in the "wing" I was refused. I saw the father but she could not provide certificates for PRA or Luxating Patella. So not convinced. It was odd how I got her number two locally there had been an advert for Cockapoo pups when contacted I was told all sold but another litter was due now I know the carrying period of dogs and despite ringing him on the date then a few days later them a bit later I was told this kennel had some available! Very odd also the mother looked exhausted I think she had had a few litters. No I didn't buy despite them being very nice people.
